Food
& Beverage
Since its opening in 1993, the restaurant at the Hotel Palace
has made an excellent name for itself, receiving its first Michelin
Star in 1997. The "First Floor", which owes its name
to its location, has seating for over 60 gourmets. The ambience
consists of varnished rosewood, panelled walls, decorative ceiling
lighting, as well as upholstery in bright blue, combined with
a warm shade of gold. The carpets from Thailand are hand-woven.
The bar, which forms a harmonious part of the room, is a perfect
place to meet before dining.
The restaurants` Fromagair
has a selection of 50 different sorts of cheese mainly from the
house of Maitre Olivier. A Chambrair guarantees well-tempered
wines, recommended by sommelier Gunnar Tietz. A very special feature
is the collection of 17 continuous vintages of Mouton Rothschild
Imperial (bottled from 6-litre casks) with a value of EUR 30,000.00,
exhibited in a specially designed Caveau.
The "first floor" chef de cuisine, Matthias Buchholz,
is a master in creative, aromatic cuisine. Not that this precludes
classics such as Brittany lobster or caviar. The highly motivated
team headed by maitre Uwe Lein guarantees expert advice as well
as perfect table service.
An average a la carte menu will cost EUR 60. Reservations are
necessary.
One highlight of the
gourmet restaurant: it is directly linked to five elegant conference
rooms for up to 60 persons with such imposing names as "Salon
Petrus" and "Cheval Blanc". The foyer provides
an attractive view of the caveau red-wine, containing over 800
different vintages.
Small snacks and tea
time is served in the Lounge Bar with live piano-music. In the
evening guests can choose from a wide cocktail selection or out
of 44 sorts of whisk(e)y. Breakfast is served in the restaurant
Bon Dia with a view to the Zoo.
